During the Industry Day at the Intermag 2024 conference, Kevin Garello provided a comprehensive overview of spin-orbit coupling (SOT) devices for memory and logic applications. Focused on magnetism in the memory industry, the conference featured tutorials and educational presentations highlighting the deployment of MRAM in real systems.
The morning session featured speakers from major companies like Samsung, GlobalFoundries, IBM, and Everspin, focusing on Spin-Transfer Torque Random Access Memory (STT-MRAM) products. Discussions centered around the technological advancements, applications, and competitive advantages of these devices.
In the afternoon, attention turned to Spin-Orbit Torque Magnetic Random Access Memory (SOT-MRAM) prospects. IMEC’s presentation on SOT miniaturization and their upcoming demonstration of a 1 MB SOT-MRAM macro garnered significant interest. Additionally, Yoda Inc. introduced an innovative concept promising to enhance the writing efficiency of SOT-MTJ.
