SPINMAT
Project Manager
Manager: Vincent CROS, CNRS Research Director
The SPINMAT project aims to create a national “platform” with unique capabilities for the development of new materials for spintronics in the form of a structured national network. The goal is to equip and structure the French community in the field of material growth for spintronics by providing design and production tools for materials that offer new physical properties, new functionalities, and new ways to create, manipulate, and detect spin information.
Challenges
>Low energy consumption
>Spin-charge conversion
>The production of reconfigurable or neuromorphic architectures
Five pillars identified to address the necessity of creating a national “platform”
>Materials optimization
>The state of the art in current spintronic devices
>The introduction of materials that could provide emerging solutions such as molecular materials, 2D magnetic materials, multifunctional oxides
>Heterostructures based on topological insulators and superconductors
More precisions
The project also aims to provide targeted projects, as well as future projects resulting from calls, with material solutions to advance towards new types of information processing and breakthrough devices.
The organization of dedicated workshops and roundtables will enable the sharing of expertise and know-how, the training of young researchers, and thus the strengthening of a materials culture at the national level. These interactions and exchanges will also stimulate the search for new material solutions.
